The visit on the Santiago Tourist Train
The Santiago de Compostela tourist train offers a comfortable and sustainable way to explore the city. It departs from Santiago Cathedral, a World Heritage Site since 1985, and skirts the historic center along the capital's ancient walls.
MEETING POINT
Obradoiro Square, at the main façade of the Cathedral of Santiago
Starting from Obradoiro Square, in front of the Cathedral of Santiago, from the train carriages we can admire some of the most interesting places in this city. During the journey, the train passes by the San Francisco Convent, the Galicia Auditorium, and the university campuses. It skirts the historic center via the Alameda and Rúa da Senra, where the old city walls and the gates to Santiago de Compostela once stood. It continues past the San Domingos de Bonaval Monastery, which today houses the Museum of the Galician People and the Pantheon of Illustrious Galicians; the Galician Museum of Contemporary Art, the Santa Clara Convent, and the Pilgrim Monument, before returning to Obradoiro Square.
